May 18 & 19, 2005 Print

The following is a summary of the notes taken from the monthly meetings held at the IHOP on Capital blvd on May 18 & 19 2005

President Parker started the meeting by thanking everyone for attending and thanked everyone who turned out to vote in the past election. We had over 80 percent voter turn out.

Adam started the meeting by introducing MDA representative Kimberly; they both spoke on the Fill the Boot Campaign. We need at least one person on each shift to help get this off and running for this year. Contact Adam Stanley at Station 20, A-Shift, if you are interested in helping. A MDA family was on hand to answer any question we might have had.

E-MAIL Jimmy has asked all Board members to contact shift members about there e-mail addresses. Danny Poole has forwarded all board members a membership list and station assignments so that they can be reached. He has also provided them with current home mailing addresses as well. Please e-mail JIMMY PARKER or one of the Board members your e-mail address.

After contacting our local legislators and asking them to meet with us about our retirement bill, we had a very poor showing. You have complained about not getting any results and notice was given well in advance concerning this and only three people showed. We must continue to get involved and stay involved with these people and not when it is convenient to us.

Pat Pickard spoke on having one person in each Battalion to call each station in their Battalion to get the word out concerning special meetings and workshops and legislative meetings.

John Rehbock made a motion that the RPFFA get back into State Legislature elections and Representative elections, this still includes local elections as well.

This motion was seconded by David Lynn.

Discussion was made on this and John Rehbock made an amendment to his motion that the RPFFA get back involved in LOCAL, STATE and FEDERAL elections but this local will not make any PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENTS

This motion was seconded by John Bailey and a vote was taken and passed by all members present.

A second motion was made by Pat Pickard that the Political Committee to be made up of the Shift Vice Presidents and they will be responsible for sending out shift communications. It is also agreed that the Board of Directors will do the screening of the candidates and report back to us and report on the ones we can count on to support our goals.

Tim Pearce seconded this motion.

A second vote was taken and it too passed by all present.

Both of the above motions were presented on the second day of meetings and passed by a unanimous vote.

DUES CHECK OFF is to start soon, we are waiting for the implementation of the R-Tap program first.

Trey Mayo spoke on the Political Victory Fund and its need of contributions Money Talks and all others stand by and keep on wishing.

HOLIDAY PAY - The City manager is not going to move on his current position. The next step is City Council whom we are already in communications with. We need to be cautious about changing our work hours not to affect our current overtime pay we have now.

BY- LAWS - Danny Poole, Wayne Motley, and Robert Harper

ELECTIONS - Donnie Carter, Pat Pickard, Jeff Silver
