The following is a brief summary of the monthly RPFFA meetings held at the IHOP on Capitol Blvd Tuesday and Wednesday October 5 & 6 2004. Meetings brought to order by President Jimmy Parker at 8:30 a.m. each day total attendance for both days was 53 members. Donna Stroud running for District judge spoke at both meetings, giving brief summary on her candidacy for judge. (Note the RPFFA is not endorsing any political candidate at this time) she called Jimmy Parker and asked to speak for just a few minutes. Parker spoke on the newsletter and several things that it contained 1. Jeff Mullins grievance on the overtime and Holiday pay. This is in Chief Fowler’s office and we have no more details at this time. We will keep you updated on this and what Travis Payne the attorney has to say 2. Parker spoke on the possibility of raising dues to conform to the IAFF rule of having dues at 1% of starting firefighter pay. This will be discussed in more detail in future board meetings. The increase would be $4 per month more bringing the total to $24 per month. This should also be enough to sub stain us for several years. 3. Dues Check-off has been passed by City council and will be implemented next April 2005 we will ask that everyone change to this when this happens. More details will follow as well. Josey Miketon spoke on the guaranteed Rate Mortgage Comp this was information provided in your newsletter. President Parker asked for volunteers to be on the Nominations Committee for the upcoming RPFFA elections to be held next year. This Committee will open the nominations and confirm the need for an election and that all guidelines were followed for nomination. The following persons have volunteered for this committee Mike Davidson, David Lynn, Rich Coats (chairperson) Elections are scheduled tentatively for March 15 & 16 2005 The RPFFA at there last Board Meeting voted to ask the members to vote on a change in our By- Laws that will change the terms of office for our officers from 2 years to 4 years. This will be placed in effect after the next election in 2005 if approved by our members at the next regularly scheduled meetings. This was introduced at one of our monthly meeting held last April by our members. Let this serve as notice that at our next meetings you will be asked to vote on this change. It will take a two thirds vote at the next two meeting for this to pass. If passed all officers will serve four year terms instead of two, this was discussed at the last membership meetings and a notice will be sent out before the next meeting reminding you of this. (Note these meeting will be back to back meetings like we normally have) Trey Mayo spoke on the Fire-Pac fund all material was enclosed in the newsletter and we encourage each of you to contribute. We have achieved many things thru our political activities and there is so much more that we can achieve but we need to contribute to these candidates no matter the amount. So take the time and commit.
