About Us Print
The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association is a non-profit professional association of career fire fighters who are employed by the City of Raleigh Fire Department. The RPFFA is affiliated on the national level with the International Association of Fire Fighters and on the state level with the Professional Fire Fighters of North Carolina.

The mission of the RPFFA is to seek and pursue opportunities to improve and advance the safety of the firefighting profession. We strive to provide ongoing educational opportunities designed to enhance the ability of our members to carry out their duties in the most efficient and safest manner possible. The Association also serves as an advocate for its membership.

The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association is strongly committed to the well being and progress of our community and its citizens. We are constantly looking for opportunities to serve the Raleigh and Wake County community. Below is a list of some of the projects the Association has been able to sponsor during the 1990's.

Your SUPPORT in NO WAY affects the Raleigh Fire Department services available to you as a citizen of Raleigh or Wake County nor does it affect the firefighter's commitment to you if you ever need us!  The RPFFA is a 501c5 non-profit organization, contributions are NOT tax deductible.

**THE R.P.F.F.A. HANDLES ALL OF IT'S FUNDRAISING. THERE IS NO INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL SOLICITING COMPANY INVOLVED IN OUR EFFORTS! 100% OF SUPPORT RAISED GOES DIRECTLY TO THE R.P.F.F.A.!**

The RPFFA Improves YOUR Community!

The purchase of the "Fire Safety House", currently active throughout Raleigh and Wake County demonstrating fire safety in the home to small children (see Fire Safety House on the website).

The Wake County Chapter of the "Firefighters Burned Children Fund". This statewide program is designed to provide burn prevention education, support Camp Celebrate, and to establish a local program to give special attention to burn victims who are residents of Wake County.

A drug and alcohol awareness program named "I've Got Better Things To Do!" This program used fire fighter mentors to work with "at-risk" middle school aged students in a self-esteem based program.

The RPFFA is especially proud to be a sponsor of Camp Celebrate, a weekend camp open to children ages 6 - 17 who have been burned and treated at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. Camp Celebrate has been operating since 1981 and was the first of its kind in the United States. Camp Celebrate is a unique therapeutic experience designed to enhance each camper's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

The RPFFA supports a number of worthy causes through contributions of both money and labor.  Some of the causes and programs supported include:
